Have you ever thought about starting your own business? According to Priscilla Jankans, a nurse turned into a successful serial entrepreneur, now is the perfect time. With her latest company, NurseproCEO she is helping people turn their passions into profit.

If you have ever thought about becoming an entrepreneur, here are 10 things you need to know to be successful.

#1 Identify Your Passion

If you’re interested in becoming an entrepreneur, this may seem like a no brainer. However, people don’t always realize that they are able to turn something they love into something that can make them money. Too often we think that work should be hard, but it’s so much more fun when you can make money doing what you love. What is it that you have a desire to do?

The greatest thing of all is to get paid to do your passion. Most people are capable of moving their passion into profit, but they get comfortable with where they are.

#2 Take the First Step

It starts with the power of the mind. Your business starts with your desire to have something different, to let your passion and desire out.

“If more people took that first step of faith, I think they would realize they could have a completely different life.”

Once you have the idea in your mind, take action.

#3 Do the Work Yourself

When Priscilla started her own staffing agency, she faced a lot of challenges competing with major staffing agencies and getting through the red tape. There was a lot that needed to happen and she found it helpful to learn how to do it herself. As an entrepreneur, it’s important to be a self starter, a go getter and a hard-worker.

You fail or succeed totally based on your own work ethic.

In her program, NurseproCEO, she can build businesses for people or she can teach people how to start their own business. She really encourages people to start it themselves, because when you learn how to start one business you can quickly start another in the future.

#4 It Will Be Challenging

Most people know that being an entrepreneur isn’t easy, but they don’t always realize that it can be so much harder than their 9-5. The hours don’t end and you will invest a lot of your personal time, but it is worth it.

People see the highlights of entrepreneurship, but they don’t always see the back work. There is a lot of struggle and failure to get to where you want to be. It’s important to work well under pressure and be willing to fail.

#5 Know Your End Goal

To help get you through those hard times and challenges, it’s important to know your end goal. Think about how you want your business to feel, who do you want to help, where do you want to be, how do you want to give back. When you see the bigger picture, it will help you to keep going.

New entrepreneurs need to use the end goal and let that be their guide. If you don’t have your end goal than nothing will make you happy, not even just in business but in your personal life as well.”

#6 Must Be Self Aware

When you think about your end goal, really be honest with yourself. Take some time for self reflection of what you’re capable of and what you’re willing to do. And as you do more, you’ll also need to ask, “What am I willing to give up?”

“You have to be self aware, that’s the first step, you cannot be an entrepreneur if you are not self aware, you have to know your limitations.”

Priscilla Jankans

It’s important to become self aware by being honest with yourself and by getting feedback from others too. Learn what you do well and what you don’t do well. And with that, be able to laugh at your self – you probably will not be a successful entrepreneur if you take yourself too seriously.

#7 Ask Questions

Finding a mentor or reaching out to people that have already done what you want to do can be really helpful. Don’t be afraid to ask for some insight and see what has worked for them. They may not give you all of the answers, but they can provide some helpful guidance.

#8 Support System

Priscilla owes her success to her amazing team. She said that she wouldn’t be able to do it without them. Surround yourself with people that will support you.

Who you have around you will almost absolutely determine your success.

#9 Seek the Struggle

“Go where the struggle is at, seek out the struggle, that is where the reward comes.”

Priscilla Jankans

Don’t take the easy road. If you are not struggling or it’s too easy then the reward is going to be low. Challenge yourself to do what you think you can’t do, when you get there the reward will be so much sweeter.

#10 Don’t Give Up

People fail because they give up too easily. Priscilla’s number one piece of advice:

Don’t Give Up! You never know when you’re going to be the next big hit. What if you give up the day before you make it? Stick with it, do not give up!

Priscilla Jankans

Do not give up on yourself or your business. Being an entrepreneur has it’s challenges, but keep at it and you will find success.
